Keep two records

Record outer length and width separately from the active absorbent area. Do not deduct a guessed border from every side; construction and definitions can vary.

Unknown stays unknown

The checked Earth Rated page gives nominal pad dimensions but no separately verified active-area measurements in our record. Our tool therefore starts with those fields empty.

Use the right denominator

If a maker supplies active dimensions, the active rectangle divided by the outer rectangle gives an area ratio. That ratio describes geometry, not absorption, leakage prevention or training success.

A border example with clear assumptions

For a hypothetical 22 by 23 inch outer rectangle and a separately verified 20 by 21 inch active rectangle, the areas would be 506 and 420 square inches, a ratio of 83.0%. These active dimensions are an illustrative input, not Earth Rated specifications. If the real center is unknown, report it as unknown rather than inserting the example into the product record.

Before you decide

  • Keep unknown fields empty
  • Use the same units
  • Do not infer fluid capacity
