Read the claim narrowly
The checked refill and handle pages state 65% post-consumer recycled plastic. That statement concerns material content; it does not establish compostability or local collection eligibility.
Avoid color shortcuts
A green bag or kraft package is not evidence of a compostability certification. Look for the exact product and certification scope rather than inferring a process from appearance.
Separate packaging
The empty box, roll core, unused bag and bag containing waste can have different local disposal instructions. Check each stream rather than putting the whole set into one assumed category.
Four separate label questions
Ask what the bag is made from, whether the exact product has a relevant certification, where that certification applies, and where the used item is accepted. A positive answer to one is not a substitute for the other three. Keep the used contents in the disposal question: an unused packaging material may have a different accepted destination from the same material containing pet waste.
Before you decide
- Read the exact material statement
- Check disposal separately
- Do not treat color as certification
